Job description
The Manager, Events is responsible for managing meeting logistics and budgets of various MPI programs, projects and products as part of MPI’s global live event portfolio. This position also oversees programs to ensure that activities are carried out in accordance with established specifications, schedules, and strategic and financial objectives; coordinates interdepartmental functions in order to minimize delays; and collaborates with internal teams on a regular basis to review program status and plan future actions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of the logistics and processes for assigned MPI global live event portfolio. Serves as a liaison with vendors, volunteers, sponsors and internal team members in planning meetings, training sessions, networking events (internal and external), and supplier revenue events. (45%)
Manage certain aspects of the logistics and processes for other events within MPI’s live event portfolio including WEC. (25%)
Design innovative event formats and execute the live event’s schedule. (10%)
Maintain and track budget for programs including the processing of payments; manage finances, suppliers which includes all documentation, invoices, receivables and payments and credits. (10%)
Develop and adheres to program and project timelines. (5%)
Proof read and edit copy for MPI website, brochures, promotional materials and newsletters. (5%)
Support the Events Team in assessing, managing, and maintaining relationships with key vendors and sponsors, including hotels, convention centers, audiovisual providers, catering services, and other necessary partners. (5%)

Job requirements
Experience
Five or more years’ experience in event and or program management, business management or similar role with similar responsibilities; Event/program management should be for events greater than 1,500 participants.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, education, hospitality/tourism/event management or similar; or five or more years related experience in event and or management and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. CMP, CMM or similar industry related certification highly desirable.
